The SInC Career Readiness Program (CRP) is “just in time” training for Columbus City Schools’ students who want to take part in the SInC Summer Internship Program. The CRP complements in-class learning with the acquisition of professional and workplace skills that prepare students for the working world. ​

What Students Learn

  • In 4 weekly remote sessions hosted by Expanding Visions Foundation, CCS high school students learn: 
    • About their strengths, weaknesses, and interests by performing a self-assessment 
    • Interviewing techniques and tips to prepare for successful interviews 
    • How to create a resume that stands out from their peers 
    • To write a personal statement that introduces them to prospective employers 
    • How to develop and deliver an elevator pitch 
    • Various soft skills used by successful professionals
  • Then, in an ensuing half-day offsite in-person workshop, students have the opportunity to demonstrate and practice these skillsets as they: 
    • Take part in a job interview for a mock position with an HR representative from a Central Ohio company and SInC partner  
    • Participate in a College Panel question and answer session with students from The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College
    • Interview a STEM career professional over lunch
  • When all the elements of the Career Readiness Program have been achieved, students can apply for a paid summer internship in the SInC Summer Internship Program.
